Downloading instacart delivery app review

They made great replacement items when needed. My attention was drawn to my porch before 7AM by a delivery person who was gone before I opened the door to 6 bags of groceries blocking my stairs. I am not an Instacart subscriber, but I know the store the bags were from. The store told me they could do nothing, that the mistaken delivery was made by Instacart.

I phoned them, and after much ado was told someone would retrieve the groceries. I cleared a path down my steps and went to my appointment. When I returned 4 hours later the groceries remained. Again I made contact and was told that I could keep the sugary cereal and soft drinks without charge. I declined and again was told they would be removed within the hour. Now I am left with unwanted groceries to deal with that are not nutritious, beyond the capacity of my trash service, and heavy to carry to a charity.

The last time I used Instacart, the experience was so horrible, I called customer service, forced them to delete my account they were very resistant and I had to ask firmly three times before they complied and uninstalled the app from my phone. Then time passed, and my head told me my experience was so horrible that if that was the status quo of how Instacart treated their customers, they wouldn't be in business anymore, so what I experienced had to have been an anomaly.

In a moment of weakness I just wanted some Diet Coke without having to put on real pants for the love of God , my husband used his account to place an order and the Exact. We're talking exact. Both times, the shopper made off-the-wall substitutions without reaching out via the chat feature. Both times, I caught the issue and reached out to the shopper via the chat feature to come up with a different solution.

Both times, the shopper responded with a question, then left the chat without waiting for an answer--and I was not taking five minutes to reply, we're talking less than a minute passing between the time they asked the question and I answered. Both times we called Instacart Customer Service as the shopper was checking out to say what had happened and to ask that the order not be delivered and that we receive a refund instead.

Both times Customer Service could not have cared less and said something along the lines of "this thing just happens. Both times we have had to go to the store--the very thing we were using Instacart to avoid--to shop for items that their employee was to inept to shop for. Both times we were just fuming, because there is NO WAY we would have used Instacart and paid all of the fees if we'd have known we'd just end up having to go to the store ourselves anyway.

I have no idea how they are still in business when they treat their customers this way, but it is no longer my problem, because we've been fooled twice now, and it won't happen a third time. I've been doing this for nearly a year now and it is just getting worse and worse!! Nobody wants to tip!

Instacart only pays the shopper for mileage not the time spent in the store! So you figure 50 items is well over an hour in the store. On top of that the stores are out of so many products. Then you have to message the customers about replacements and refunds and you're lucky if they even answer you! It's so frustrating! These customers expect you do them a service and then offer no tip! You tip your food servers and hairdresser and everyone else Why would you not tip someone that is doing service???

In the same week I ordered a cake for my mother it never came however the shopper marked it as delivered! I ordered wine. Instacart Shoppers are given a special company debit card to pay for customer orders. At some stores, you may be required to enter a pin code. Some stores have a designated pin code for Instacart Shoppers.

The debit card is loaded with funds based on the order you received. If you go above the allotted amount on the card, it could be declined.

In areas where the app is really popular, some stores may even have a designated line specifically for Instacart Shoppers! Like any job, shopping and delivering with Instacart can be hectic at times and has its pros and cons. The most common complaints from drivers include dealing with rude customers, trying to find parking, low-paying orders, and technical trouble with the app itself.

Or satisfied—no matter how hard you try. But in big cities where parking is already limited and often prohibited, drivers face being ticketed or fined all the time. Imagine having to try and deliver groceries on time and having to deal with traffic jams and bad drivers. I found several complaints from Instacart Shoppers about connectivity with the app. In fairness, it seems like the company has since fixed these bugs — the latest version of the app is extremely well-rated.

Think of being an Instacart Shopper like any other freelance business. You further understand that … commercial automobile insurance may be required in your jurisdiction, and you agree that it is your responsibility to determine if any of the above is required.

A fuel-efficient car is a must to minimize this expense! It reminds me of a Lyft driver I once rode with in a Ram pickup truck … he was definitely not making any money after buying gas. The good news is you should be able to write off your mileage accrued shopping with Instacart. Pro Tip: Use a mileage tracking app like Hurdlr. What else could you be doing with all this shopping and driving time?

Is there another skill you have that might earn a better hourly rate? Kevin explained that while the Instacart app is quite accurate, occasionally the software messes up. Hey, free food! Aside from driving a fuel-efficient car, there are a few things Shoppers can do improve their bottom line.

Customers add details or specific items to their orders for a reason. A good driver pays attention to the little details. Remember, customers have 3 days to add to or subtract from your tip. If you make a great impression, you may see a few extra dollars hit your account. Find ways to help customers. This could be as simple as carrying groceries upstairs or making small talk with their kiddos.

Like any job, you want to do it to the best of your abilities. Instacart drivers might consider adding Gridwise to your arsenal. They do this through automatic mileage tracking, earnings comparisons across platforms, event and weather notifications, airport flight details, and more.

These optimizations could mean hundreds of extra dollars a month. There are plenty of ways to make money delivering groceries, food, and other items. Figure out what works for you and try one out! Hourly pay is calculated using average Dasher payouts while on a delivery from the time you accept an order until the time you drop it off and includes compensation from peak pay, tips, and other incentives.
